Description
EMU-1 ACTISENSE Analog Engine Monitoring Unit
The EMU-1 ACTISENSE is a specialized analog-to-NMEA 2000 engine gateway engineered to digitize operational telemetry from older, non-ECU mechanical engines and generator sets. By converting analog sender voltages, fluid resistance levels, pulse tachometer inputs, and alarm switches into standard NMEA 2000 Parameter Group Numbers (PGNs), the EMU-1 ACTISENSE allows vessel owners to monitor engine health directly on modern chartplotters and multifunction displays (MFDs).
Designed to handle up to two engines or a single engine with extensive monitoring parameters, the EMU-1 ACTISENSE features customizable gauge-matching curves and isolated inputs to protect against electrical noise and ground loop degradation. Configured via Actisense Toolkit software (using an Actisense NGT-1 interface), the unit provides a cost-effective alternative to replacing functional analog instruments during helm upgrades.
Key Features of the EMU-1 ACTISENSE
-
Analog Gauge & Sender Digitization: Converts signals from oil pressure, coolant temperature, fuel level, transmission pressure, and trim senders into native NMEA 2000 data.
-
Dual Tachometer Inputs: Supports up to two pulse-count RPM inputs from alternators, ignition coils, or inductive flywheel sensors for single or dual engine installations.
-
Customizable Sensor Curves: Configurable via Actisense Toolkit to match standard marine senders (European 10-180 $Omega$, American 240-33 $Omega$, and custom resistive or voltage inputs).
-
Parallel Gauge Operation: Can operate in parallel with existing analog dashboard gauges without throwing off sender calibration or needle positioning.
-
Engine Alarm Monitoring: Tracks status switches for high coolant temperature, low oil pressure, water-in-fuel, and engine check indicators.
-
IP65 Flame-Retardant Enclosure: Housed in a durable, flame-retardant Polycarbonate case with screw terminal blocks for marine engine room installation.
Primary Applications
-
Retrofitting Classic Marine Engines: Bringing analog diesel or gasoline engines (Volvo Penta, Yanmar, Caterpillar, Perkins, Cummins, Mercruiser) into modern NMEA 2000 display glass cockpits
-
Shipboard Telemetry Integration: Route engine RPM, boost pressure, tilt/trim, oil pressure, and coolant temperature directly to bridge displays and onboard SCADA logging systems
-
Generator Monitoring: Digitizing auxiliary generator output, oil pressure, and temperature senders for centralized vessel power management
